Muir Woods National Monument

Muir Woods is a large park that features an ancient coastal redwood forest. The park offers solitude, interpretive displays and programs, and over 6 miles of hiking trails. You can stroll through 1,000 year old giant Redwood trees towering 260 feet high and find out why famed naturalist John Muir called this “…the best tree-lovers monument that could possibly be found in all the forests of the world.”
Muir Woods is a 30-minute drive south of Inn Marin.

Afghanistan’s Hidden Treasures from the National Museum

A traveling exhibition of extraordinary archaeological treasures from the National Museum of Afghanistan, Kabul, this exhibition will explore the rich cultural heritage of ancient Afghanistan from the Bronze Age (2500 BCE) through the rise of trade along the Silk Road in the first century CE. Strategically located on the commercial routes between China and India in the East and Europe in the West, Afghanistan was at the crossroads of civilizations in Central Asia.
Among the nearly 230 works on view will be artifacts dating back more than 4,000 years, as well as gold objects from the famed Bactrian hoard, a 2,000-year-old treasure cache discovered in 1978 but hidden from view until 2003. This exhibit is touring the United States, it’s first tour outside of Afghanistan.
